Polestar 2 Activity Key Cover

Polestar 2 Replacement Case

This case is a way to save your Polestar 2 (or Volvo) Activity Key when the battery dies.

Since the original key was designed by the manufacturer as a sealed, disposable item, replacing the battery requires a bit of DIY effort.Instructions and Replacement Process

:1. Breaking open the original key: The original plastic housing cannot be opened normally. To access the circuit board, the key must be forcefully broken open or carefully cut open along the edges. Be very careful not to damage the sensitive electronics inside.

2. Removing the battery: The original battery is not simply clipped into a holder; it is permanently attached to the board's contacts using spot welds. These solid spot welds must be carefully broken or snipped off to remove the old battery.

3. Assembly: Once the old battery is removed and a new one (CR2032 3V coin cell) is securely connected to the contacts, the entire electronic board can be placed into this 3D-printed replacement case. The new case halves can then be securely closed (ideally using a drop of super glue). This design saves your Activity Key from ending up in the trash and saves you the cost of buying an expensive new one!
